RareJob Eikaiwa starts offering lessons by native speakers.

Internal company group synergies are utilizing skilled ALTs to offer a variety of English learning experiences.

RareJob, Inc. (hereafter “RareJob”), which helps people visualize and improve their skills as an “AI assessment company”, announced that it will start offering lessons by ALTs *1 working at educational institutions nationwide and expand the number of lessons provided by native speakers *2.

Background

Among “non-native speakers” who learn English as a second language, we employ Filipinos, who have an extremely high English proficiency, as tutors and have provided a total of 65 million lessons since our establishment. We believe that Filipino tutors give Japanese learners an advantage as they have had the same experience of being “non-native speakers” trying to master the English language.

At the same time, RareJob is constantly working to update its lesson options to meet the needs of students, and in the summer of 2021 began offering lessons by bilingual Japanese tutors for mostly beginner English learners. In April 2023,BORDERLINK Inc. (hereafter “BORDERLINK”), which operates a foreign language teacher agency that outsources ALTs to educational institutions nationwide, joined the RareJob Group. By using the available skills of ALTs belonging to BORDERLINK, we have decided to start offering lessons by native speakers, which has been requested by many students for some time.

Group Synergies and Future Development

The provision of lessons by native English-speaking teachers, marked the beginning of this initiative, and was made possible by our unique synergy between the Group’s offline (i.e. outsourcing ALTs) and online (i.e RareJob Eikaiwa) services. In addition to providing lessons by the skilled ALTs, we will also be able to provide ALTs with opportunities to work during the downtime of some educational institutions, thereby improving the quality of our services and helping to solve the foreign human resource issue of working in Japan.

As a first stage, we will start providing native lessons from some ALTs belonging to BORDERLINK, and we will gradually expand the number of native tutors from other agencies or companies. By expanding the diversity of our tutor selection to include Filipinos, Japanese, and native speakers, we will continue to offer a variety of learning experiences to meet the levels and needs of our students.
